AWANA
is an international children's program offered by First Baptist Danville as another means for partnering with adults in raising up and training their children. The AWANA name comes from the Bible in 2 Timothy 2:15 which says: "Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed." AWANA meets every Wednesday of the month throughout the school year, and is divided into three segments: Game Time, Handbook Time, and Counsel Time.

    AWANA
  • Clear, consistent presentation of the gospel.
  • Bible memory - our cornerstone
  • Circle games exclusive to AWANA
  • A fun approach to learning God's Word.
  • The church leaders of tomorrow trained to serve today.
  • Evangelistic focus designed to reach non churched youth and their families.

GAME TIME - offers club attenders the opportunity to participate as team members in physical activities that can help them develop team spirit, good sportsmanship, coordination skills, and self-confidence.

HANDBOOK TIME - consists of interaction between individual clubbers and their leader. Each clubber gets a handbook to work in. These books are divided into sections of various activities, including Bible memorization. By reciting about 2 sections each club night, with no more than 2 helps/section, your child should be able to complete the handbook.

COUNSEL TIME - includes singing, announcements of upcoming events, contests, and age-appropriate instruction from the Bible covering topics that will introduce who Jesus is and how we can grow up in this personal relationship.

Who can participate in AWANA?

Cubbies - 3 years old thru Kindergarten

Sparks - 1st and 2nd grade

Truth and Training - T & T reflects the passion of AWANA to teach third through sixth grade boys and girls, the truth of God's Word and train them to follow Christ in their daily lives.

Junior Varsity - Jr. Varsity, our ministry for junior high students, meets the needs of youths at three different levels:
  • One level (Come See) targets unsaved youth
  • A second level (Come Follow) helps young or nominal believers grow in their faith.
  • Another level (Come Serve) trains committed teenagers for leadership, ministry service and a deeper walk with God.
